Are you a seasoned Financial Services Operations professional who can keep an operation running while you transform it?  Are you a skilled people manager who can build, train, coach and develop a team?  Our client, a mid-sized service provider could use your expertise as their Director, Operations.
 
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario they provide services to many of Canada’s largest publicly traded companies.  Most of their clients are listed in Canada but they are rapidly expanding to include US-listed companies.  The Director, Operations will run a portion of the overall operations team and be a key support to their superior, the Vice President, Operations.
The role of Director, Operations will be responsible for:
 
  • Provide leadership to a team (approximately 50 people in total) that delivers key services
  • Ensure that the teams are meeting/exceeding agreed service levels to clients
  • Ensure that the company is adhering to all applicable risk/compliance guidelines and that controls are effective and up-to-date
  • Monitor operations to identify business risks and provide leadership in finding solutions
  • Establish robust measurement (volumes, productivity, etc.), set targets and measure performance
  • Support the sales function by providing input into new business proposals and answering customer concerns about service delivery
  • Provide leadership and support in the ongoing transformation of the business and its operations.
 
This person will be a key player on the team that is driving change.   As the organization prepares for change, the Director will ensure that their team is well trained (and cross-trained) to increase agility.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree and/or relevant experience
  • 8-10 years’ experience in the financial services industry – with a focus on back office operations for a significant period
  • Significant team leadership/management experience – having led a team of >20 people
  • Demonstrated experience in driving process and organization change
  • Of course, excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
