Our client enables some of the most recognized brands to maximize their online presence.  Being a pioneer is rewarding especially when they can easily measure the impact of their work.  With an aggressive global expansion plan, they are strengthening the Finance team and transforming how they work.  The Controller will play a key role in this effort.
The Controller will manage a sizable and  tenured team and will report to the CFO.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Manage the financial and management reporting process.
  • Oversee accounts receivable/credit/collections, accounts payable, payroll, financial planning and forecasting, financial systems and compliance/tax.
  • Assist the business with new initiatives such as new client proposals, sales incentives, etc.
  • Work with the CFO and FP&A team on forecasting and planning.
  • Manage and mentor/develop the team – 3 direct reports with 14 in total. 

The immediate (over the next 6-12 months) priorities of the Controller will be:
  • Gain the trust of the team as they prepare for significant change.
  • Provide leadership in deploying features of their ERP (Dynamics GP) for invoicing, accounts payable (i.e. eliminating cheques) and financial reporting.
  • Integrating the international acquisitions and amalgamating to fewer legal entities.
  • Implementing a treasury function to support the increasingly complex multi-currency environment.

This role will be most appropriate for someone who has the following qualifications and experience:
  • A CPA designation with 10-15 years of professional experience – ideally having started in a public accounting firm.
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge – US GAAP, treasury and revenue recognition experience an asset
  • Experience in a mid-sized business/professional services, marketing/advertising agency, entertainment or technology environment is ideal
  • Strong leadership skills – able to get buy-in with strong-willed people and implement change.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
