Interim CFO

Are you a seasoned Finance Executive who can be a steady hand during times of change?  Our client, a long serving institution with a high profile and sterling reputation requires your expertise for 6-months as their Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Located in Toronto, the organization has a reputation for respecting tradition while moving forward with innovation.  They are very well funded and have significant plans for further development.  The Interim CFO will steward the Finance team as the organization searches for a full-time CFO.

The role of Interim CFO will be responsible for:
  • Working with the CEO, the Board and other Senior Leadership Team members to ensure the financial viability of the operation and its Foundation. 
  • Ensuring the appropriate controls, policies and procedures are in place for accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and meaningful management reporting.
  • Carefully managing cash and investing excess cash appropriately.
  • Advising the Senior Leadership Team on developing strategic plans and budget for future operating years.
  • Regular presentations to the Board and its various Committees.
  • Working closely with Operations to anticipate expenditures for facilities maintenance and upgrade.
  • Managing and developing a committed team of professionals.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
  • A professional accounting designation – CPA – preference for someone with public accounting training.
  • 10+ years of progressively senior financial positions in mid-sized organizations – not-for profit sector experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success in both strategic thinking/planning and tactical execution.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a business partner to a Senior Leadership Team and a very engaged Board.
  • Ability to build a team, manage and mentor people for advancement.
  • An ability to appreciate the organization’s mission and ensure that resources are deployed to delivering the best outcome for all stakeholders.
The organization is in Toronto.  This is a 6-month Interim engagement with a potential for full-time.
