Associate - Infrastructure Investing

We are recruiting on behalf of one of Canada’s largest investment managers with over $120 billion in assets under management.  Their focus is on acquiring and developing core and core plus infrastructure projects that generate long-term stable cash flows.  They are experiencing significant growth and are seeking to expand their capability in executing acquisitions and managing their portfolio.  This growth means that they need to add an Associate to its highly experienced team.
 
The role of Associate will be responsible for:
  • Developing and operating complex financial models for purposes of both acquiring and managing infrastructure projects.
  • Working with the team on performing detailed investment due diligence.
  • Co-ordinating acquisition processes, including managing outside advisors, drafting investment memorandums, and communicating findings to senior staff.
  • Post-acquisition investment monitoring and management.
  • Working with the team on value creation opportunities, such as refinancing’s, add-on acquisitions and divestitures.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance - a focus on business or finance is preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience at a top tier investment bank with a focus on M&A or corporate finance
  • Experience in the infrastructure or renewable energy sectors is ideal
  • Deep experience in complex financial modeling and detailed due diligence
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong sense of business/investment judgement relative to experience
  • Strong desire to work in a close-knit team
  • CFA would be a plus
